Never glorify the old for the sake of the old! But... this old variety from around 1890 deserves to be praised: very large pods with very soft and sweet wrinkled peas. The height is 150 cm and the harvest is enormous. The many names reveal that this variety is well established in many countries! A customer once wrote to me: "The 'Alderman' pea is doing well: beautiful healthy crop, no bad pods and cutworms don't like it. I have the 'Groene Krombek' next to it and more than half of those have been eaten, by the way, they don't really like Blauwschokkers either, so the feeding damage is not too bad there. The 'Alderman' is a super soft pea and the taste is very good. Oh, yes, where they are now has been grassland for 14 years, so plenty of cutworms...!"
