Radicchio 'Red Palla Rossa' / 'Red Verona Globe A Palla' 3g

  • Product number: 070265
  • Origin: Europe
  • Latin: Cichorium intybus

These short-day plants form round, large to medium-sized, dark red heads. Sow from mid-June for good head formation. The heads are fairly loose and therefore not as "bad-weather-sensitive." The bright white veins provide a beautiful contrast.

The chicory family includes endive, frizzy endive, and various types of chicory. Characteristic is the more or less present "bitterness," formerly reviled and now highly appreciated. Let a plant "bolt" sometime: chicory flowers are usually beautifully blue in color and smell of vanilla!

Names:
Latin: Cichorium intybus
Dutch: Roodlof
Also: Radicchio Rosso
English: Red-leafed Chicory, Radicchio
