ORGANICALLY GROWN SEEDS! A beautiful radicchio with long, narrow, bright red, curly leaves and thick, bright white veins. The harvested heads can only be called Radicchio di Treviso if grown in protected regions in Italy, so feel free to give them another name and enjoy! A few weeks before harvest, you can tie the heads together or bleach them under a dark bucket. A traditional cultivation method is done like endive without cover soil, with the roots in a layer of groundwater in a dark tank.
The chicory family includes endive, friar's beard, and various types of chicory. Characteristic is the more or less present "bitterness," formerly reviled and now highly valued. Let a plant "bolt" once: chicory flowers are usually beautifully blue and smell of vanilla!
