THE EARLIEST BROAD BEAN WE KNOW!
'De Monica' is a greatly improved variety from 2010; the pods are extra long (around 20 cm) and filled with robustly flavoured broad beans. The plants are disease-resistant and the broad beans can be harvested very early. This variety is very flexible: it also yields good harvests in Southern Europe and is remarkably winter-hardy here, even though they are almost as early if you sow them in early spring... The plants grow to about 100-125 cm tall, have black and white flowers, and are brown-seeded.
