Pole bean 'Non Plus Ultra'
- Product number: 048305
- Origin: Central America
- Latin: Common bean
For the connoisseurs, we have again been able to obtain a batch of this old variety through Richarda Koeleman. The longer Rentegevers and Mechelse Tros are brothers of this historical bean. They are a bit finer and very tasty! Richarda told me: "I got them from my father, who worked in vegetable nurseries from the age of 10 and later had his own flower nursery. He once had several varieties (he also did everything on a large scale for the vegetable garden so that the whole family could enjoy it), including the Rentegevers. These produced more and had much longer beans. But when he had to downsize the vegetable garden at my mother's insistence, he kept the tastiest varieties of everything, and that's how the 'Non Plus Ultra' has remained in our family..."
