Bush Beans 'Koning der Belgen' / 'Roi des Belges'

  • Product number: 046065
  • Origin: Not applicable / Unknown
  • Latin: Phaseolus vulgaris

Popular since 1920 as a very early bean and at the time an improvement on the 'Zwarte Belgische' (Black Belgian). Like that old variety from 1839, 'Koning der Belgen' (King of the Belgians) has black seeds. It is named in homage to King Albert I. Due to its early maturity, this tasty bean can still be sown very late. An extra advantage is its resistance to somewhat colder weather conditions!

Names:
Latin: Phaseolus vulgaris

Sowing method: May-early July directly at the final destination. Distance 50x10 cm or for "stool beans" (= 3 together) 50x40 cm. Beans love warmth, do not sow too early and not when a lot of rain is expected. You can speed up the process by pre-sowing in pots.
