Dried Beans 'Yin Yang' / 'Starozagoriski' / 'Koeboontjes' 100g

  • Product number: 045425
  • Origin: South America
  • Latin: Phaseolus vulgaris

The name Yin Yang is not historical but it is apt. The nickname "orca beans" also refers to the black-and-white character of the dried beans; what is striking is the black eye in the white field and the white eye in the black field... In the southern US, eating this bean on New Year's Day brings good luck! The non-climbing, and thus low, bean plants yield a good harvest of tasty dried beans.

Dried beans are harvested in various ways. Some varieties can also be eaten with the whole pod, others can only be eaten fresh or (mature) dried. Tip for storing dried beans: to prevent any bean fly eggs from hatching, place the well-dried beans in the freezer for 24 hours.

Denominations:
Latin: Phaseolus vulgaris
Dutch: Droogbonen (Dried Beans)
Also known as: Orcabonen (Orca Beans)
