Dry beans, pole 'Schneebohne'

  • Product number: 045357
  • Origin: Germany
  • Latin: Common bean

Dry beans are harvested in various ways. Some varieties are edible whole pod and all, while others can only be eaten fresh or (mature) dry. Tip for storing dry beans: to prevent any bean weevil eggs from hatching, place the well-dried beans in the freezer for 24 hours.

The almost round beans are white with an off-white undertone and dark purple veining. A fast-growing, climbing bean with striking red and white variegated pods. The harvest is remarkably large, even in less favorable years. Expect a tasty bean with a soft texture. This variety has an old German history and was saved from oblivion by Tamara (Tara) Clement from Sudbury (Ontario, Canada).

Names:
  • Latin: Phaseolus vulgaris
