From an old Frisian tradition! This cream-yellow low shelling bean has a soft skin and is ideal as a soup bean, but is also often eaten with a piece of bacon. The soft, creamy bean flavour of the soup is traditionally combined with many types of herbs and broths.
Shelling beans are harvested in different ways. Some varieties are also edible with the whole pod, others can only be eaten fresh or (matured) dry. Tip for storing dry beans: to prevent any bean fly eggs from hatching, place the well-dried beans in the freezer for 24 hours.
