This old variety yields beautiful blue seeds with white speckles, which later change color to black with light brown speckles. The low plants can trail a little, but usually no support is needed. Then come the attractive, light lilac flowers. Picked young, the pods of this bean are delicious as green beans!
Dry beans are harvested in various ways. Some varieties can also be eaten with the whole pod, while others can only be eaten fresh or (matured) dried. Tip for storing dried beans: to prevent any bean fly eggs from hatching, place the well-dried beans in the freezer for 24 hours.
