Hyacinth Bean 'Witte Sim' 5g ± 15 Seeds
- Product number: 043100
- Origin: Tropical Africa and Asia
- Latin: Dolichos lablab
Graceful, climbing legume for a sunny spot outdoors or in the greenhouse. This leguminous plant blooms in the most beautiful bright white in long flower clusters with bright green leaves and is highly valued as an ornamental plant (annual), not least because not many people know this plant yet. For the kitchen gardener: after flowering, short, fresh green pods with a pleasant mild-sweet taste grow, popular in Asia! Pick young, cook briefly or braise in, for example, Tarkari (Surinamese dish). The dried beans can of course also be cooked, but the water must be changed twice due to slightly toxic properties. In the tropics, the young leaves are used in salads and the older leaves as spinach. The firm roots can be boiled or baked. Multifunctionally edible!
