‘Lady Di’ and ‘Windsor’ are both red-flowering runner beans of the modern generation: long and slender (26-30 cm) and virtually stringless, which keeps them tender and harvestable for a long time during a warm summer. Also, enjoy the beautiful red flowers; almost an ornamental plant!
We supply 1 of the 2 mentioned varieties, subject to availability.
Runner beans are very strong beans; use the climbing varieties as a windbreak for regular green beans. Picked young, they are at least as tasty. If the beans hang too long, the individual beans (seeds) can be shelled. These are known as 'potato beans'. Runner beans are also quite resistant to salty winds.
