ORGANICALLY GROWN SEEDS! Dark green heads (also called "chairs" in endive), very finely serrated and incised, yellow to creamy white inside. In the last weeks of growth, the heads can be tied together with a raffia string to blanch the heart extra. The blonder, the milder the taste! Grow this variety on raised beds, curly endive dislikes too much wetness.
The chicory family includes endive, frizzy endive and various types of chicory. Characteristic is the more or less present "bitterness", formerly detested and nowadays highly valued. Let a plant "shoot": chicory flowers are usually beautifully blue and smell of vanilla!
