Endive 'Nummer Vijf 2' / ='Broadleaf Batavian' / 'Batavian'

  • Product number: 005000
  • Origin: Mediterranean region
  • Latin: Cichorium endivia

A good, now historic selection of the traditional spring and summer endive. What many growers don't know is that this variety is also very suitable for autumn cultivation; the heads ("chairs") become a little less heavy than the 'Breedblad Volhart Winter'.

The chicory family includes endive, frizzy endive, and various types of chicory. Characteristic is the more or less present "bitterness," once disliked and now highly appreciated. Let a plant "bolt" once: chicory flowers are usually beautifully blue in color and smell like vanilla!
