Amaranth Grains 'Maria'

  • Product number: 004435
  • Origin: Central and South America
  • Latin: Amaranthus hypochondriacus

Straight Amaranth with slender, full, dark red trusses, growing 1-1.5 m tall. In addition to being edible, amaranth is also very ornamental in the garden and makes an excellent cut flower! The leaves start green and turn red. The seeds are shiny jet black, and the seed harvest is enormous: an average of 2 kg per 10 m²

EXTRA PRODUCTIVE SELECTION!
As with other members of the Amaranthus genus, the tender leaves of especially young plants can be eaten like spinach. When the flower clusters ripen, the seeds can be harvested: very healthy (for example, popped in the oven at 130°C) in muesli. The newly germinated seeds (sprouts) are also healthy and nutritious. The seeds can also be baked into bread or cooked with rice.
