This Amaranth forms enormous, branched, upright flower clusters in a pink-red color and grows to 1-1.5 m tall. Besides being edible, amaranth is also very ornamental in the garden and strong as a cut flower! The leaves are green with pink.
The seeds are very dark brown to black, the seed yield is quite good: an average of 1.3 kg per 10 m²
EXTRA PRODUCTIVE SELECTION!
As with other members of the Amaranthus genus, the tender leaves, especially of young plants, can be eaten like spinach. When the flower clusters ripen, the seeds can be harvested: very healthy (for example, puffed in the oven at 130°C) in muesli. The newly germinated seeds (sprouts) are also healthy and nutritious. The seeds can also be baked into bread or cooked with rice.
