Basket Strawberry 'Loran' F1

  • Product number: 001210
  • Origin: Europe
  • Latin: Fragaria x ananassa

The seeds of 'Loran' germinate uniformly, and during cultivation, 'Loran' develops into a compact plant with strikingly dark green leaves. The first flowering of this everbearing variety is distinctly earlier and more uniform than that of other sown varieties. After the plants are transplanted into the garden, they remain attractively compact. The fruits are large and beautifully conical in shape. The fruit colour is a beautiful dark red, and the flesh also has a lovely red colour. The taste and aroma of 'Loran' are quite similar to the 'Elan' variety and can therefore be described as very good.

The F1 hybrids can bear fruit in the same year if sown in time.

Sowing method: Sowing is possible from early January to late March for same-year fruits, and from April-July for harvest the following year; sow at a temperature of 22°C (20-25°C). Sowing medium: cocopeat with silver sand, sieve the top layer with a kitchen sieve to obtain extra fine soil. After spreading the fine seeds, press them lightly and sieve a very thin layer of the aforementioned sowing soil over the seeds. Keep moist by misting with water, not too wet and do not place in direct sunlight. If no germination is visible after 4 weeks, the seed tray can be placed in the refrigerator for 1 day, then returned to 22°C. Transplant the seedlings when the first true leaf has appeared (usually after 4-6 weeks). Harden off the plants sufficiently before planting them in the garden or containers. Regular fertilization is necessary, but over-fertilization is harmful!
