Pancake plant
- Product number: 843000.1
- Origin: Southern China
- Latin: Pilea peperomioides
The fashion plant of the post-2015 era...! Even we couldn't resist bringing one into the house every now and then. I've known the plant for at least 40 years; it's mainly the combination of its funny shape and clever name that makes everyone want one.
Give it a bright spot; in summer it can also go outside. The plant can handle a lot, except for having wet feet for too long. Because the plant easily produces seeds in its own pot, you can soon "harvest" and give away young plants! The round leaves, which are attached to the stem in a funny way (on the underside), apparently inspired the name Pancake Plant, although I think Pizza Plant is more fitting... By the way, nothing about the plant is edible.
