Ideal for mixing in salads: for a tasty, spicy touch! In the past, people would take a barrel of salted scurvy grass on long sea voyages, eating it to prevent scurvy. Back then, they didn't even know that the leaves contain an extremely high amount of vitamin C. Medicinally, scurvy grass increases appetite and promotes digestion. It also positively affects the gallbladder and liver, which in turn soothes gout and rheumatism. This perennial plant is evergreen and originally grows in brackish water areas. When cultivated with sweet and salt water, the leaves become smaller than in freshwater areas. The plants are evergreen, so harvesting can continue in a mild winter (or in a greenhouse)!
