The Arabian coffee plant originates from Ethiopia and was later spread across the world via Yemen to Java, Brazil, etc. Of the 3 species (Coffea arabica, robusta, and liberica), arabica is the most popular. It is also the most widely used, accounting for approximately 75% of the total worldwide coffee production.
The plant grows quite easily in a pot and can be pruned occasionally. In the summer, feel free to place it outdoors, but protect it from strong midday sun. After a few years, the plant will flower with wonderfully fragrant, white blossoms, after which the berry develops. When it is red, it can be harvested and peeled. Roasting gives coffee its special flavor: time to experiment! Bring the plant indoors in the autumn in good time and spray it regularly in winter as the plant dislikes dry air.
