Henna is the well-known red dye used in Arab, African, and Indian cultures to dye nails, palms, and hair. Its use has been documented since 3500 BC! The veins of the young leaves are particularly interesting for the dye. Keep the plant indoors in winter, the minimum temperature is 10°C. Optimal growth occurs at 25°-35°C. The plant blooms with small, wonderfully fragrant flowers in white, red, pink, or yellow. A famous perfume has been made from it for centuries, said to be the Prophet Muhammad's favorite scent.
