This courgette was bred in England with a focus on appearance, flavour and growth. The oval-shaped fruits are dark green with attractive yellow-white stripes from “top to bottom”, the flavour is very good and the plants bear early and remain compact. Easy to grow in a slightly smaller growing space or in large pots. Courgettes are harvested when young; when harvested ripe, this courgette makes an excellent ornamental fruit or edible pumpkin.

Courgettes can easily be grown outdoors. This variety does not trail, the fruits grow from the centre of
the plant. Harvest the fruits young to very young for eating. Leave them to grow for ornamental purposes, then they can be stored.

(Too) big a harvest? Bake a quantity of sliced courgettes, onions, and garlic. Then puree and freeze. After thawing, this forms a good base for soups when combined with broth. If the courgette is a bit too large: Peel and deseed it, then peel completely into ribbons with a peeler or cheese slicer, creating beautiful white strands. Sprinkle with salt and let drain. Then mix well with two generous tablespoons of chopped chives, the same amount of pimpernel leaves, and the same amount of mayonnaise. This makes a delicious salad for approximately 4 to 8 people, depending on the courgette. For every 15 cm of courgette length and 25 cm circumference, it's enough for 1 to 2 people, depending on whether it's a main or side dish…
