At first we thought: nice… a mint with a chocolate aroma. Upon closer inspection, it turns out to be the tastiest mint to combine with chocolate in dessert or cake. But it is also wonderfully fresh in tea. The light lilac flower spikes bloom from the bottom up.
Most mint species of the genus Mentha grow in the sun or in the shade. In the sun, the growth is the most compact and the color, scent and taste are the most intense. Each species goes through 2 growth stages: in spring there is the growth spurt upwards for flowering. After that, the horizontally (hard) growing runners develop, which grow into new plants in a different place. Bees and butterflies love mint flowers.
