Corkscrew garlic 'Wildfire' / 'Wild Fire'

  • Product number: 306343.1
  • Origin: Central Asia
  • Latin: Allium sativum var ophioscorodon subvar Asiatic

A fiery hot garlic! The inferno starts with a slight tingling, builds up, and comes thundering down the mountain. Why would you try to run away from this unique experience? Just let it wash over your tongue and swirl in your head, extinguishing itself in due course and at its own pace. Live dangerously, be brave, experience the flavors (scream if you must), I'm sure you'll end it with a broad smile!

How delicious can also be beautiful.... (or vice versa). This tasty member of the garlic family grows with 1 or more curls in the stem and is (therefore) particularly decorative. Spiral garlic is called hardneck garlic in English and is generally stronger in taste than the so-called softneck varieties.

Names:
Latin: Allium sativum var ophioscorodon subvar Asiatic
Dutch: Spiraalknoflook
Also known as: Esculaapui
English: Serpent Garlic Hardneck

Garlic can be planted year-round, provided the cloves are in good condition. Most varieties are in stock during autumn and winter. We supply varieties that are successfully cultivated in the Netherlands. Immediately after receiving, break open the bulb and plant the cloves in the ground: 2-5 cm deep and 10-20 cm apart. When planted in autumn, the garlic will emerge in February (or earlier) and can be harvested in June-July. Later planting naturally means a later harvest. Harvesting is not mandatory; garlic is winter-hardy and can also remain in the ground. After harvesting, braid the foliage as you sometimes see garlic in stores and dry the bulbs in the sun. In a cool, dry room, they can sometimes be stored for up to a year! Cultivation is not difficult, but you can find good tips in our cultivation description in PDF (see bottom of the website). Garlic is said to deter aphids in roses, for example, worth a try!
