Allium cepa var viviparum
- Product number: 734325.1
- Origin: Eurasia
- Latin: Allium cepa var viviparum, or Allium cepa Proliferum-Group
A curious and historical onion! The bulbs in the ground form new growth (offsets) and at the top of the stalks, in addition to sometimes a few flowers, "aerial bulbils" also develop, which then sprout again. Growth in stages, so to speak. Besides being fascinating, this hardy onion also adds a nice spiciness to salads.
If the bulbs are not available, we can often supply the plants: 831490
