Ricinus communis 'Carmencita Bright Red'

  • Product number: 550420
  • Origin: East Africa
  • Latin: Ricinus communis

The darkest-leaved: young and old leaves are intensely dark brown (given enough sun!) and the flower and fruit are bright red: a beauty!

Very fast-growing plant with large, palmate leaves. Could this be the plant that provided shade to the prophet Jonah? Fills a sheltered spot completely! Blooms with thick flower spikes of male and female flowers; the latter develop into round, spiky balls with beautiful seeds. These seeds are poisonous, but then, who would eat them... Overwinter plants indoors.

Names:
Latin: Ricinus communis
