Potatoes 'Europa'

(1989) A French cross between Edzina and Alcmaria. The (beautiful) oval tubers and the flesh are light yellow, the texture is quite firm, and the taste is sublime. Due to its slight mealiness, this (almost salad) potato is also very suitable for other purposes such as baking and frying.
Every grower is surprised by the large harvest and acceptable disease susceptibility, which, after all, mainly plays a role in potatoes that can be harvested later. Nevertheless, it has a shelf life of at least 6 months!

MID-EARLY VARIETY FOR CONNOISSEURS.
A mid-early variety means it can be harvested from August. Harvesting a few weeks earlier is possible by planting earlier. The planting time is from mid-April, when the soil has sufficient warmth. Pre-sprouting in light or in a large pot can be done earlier. Do not plant them in too wet a spot, but make sure they get plenty of sun. Mid-early varieties can suffer from the dreaded potato blight (Phytophthora infestans). Some preventive measures include: spacious planting, fertilizing with patentkali, not spraying water over the plant, and possibly organic spraying with sulfur or silinal. The average planting distance is 70x40 cm; we recommend maintaining 80x40 cm to prevent diseases.
