A bizarrely shaped flower, due to the bulbils quickly sprouting. This selection from the wild Sand Leek produces "flowers" consisting of twisted, fused stems. The sturdy stems reach a height of 100-120 cm, making the flowers excellent for vases. Flowering time: June-July. Both the bulbs and the flowers are edible; the taste of the bulb is comparable to mild garlic!
