We are passionate about plants and we love to share that passion with you. Do you have questions about cultivation, diseases, care, or special varieties? Feel free to email us.
And would you prefer to get live inspiration? Then I (Ton) would be happy to come by for a lecture, at the invitation of companies, organizations, and associations. You can often also join an existing meeting as a guest.
I am available all year round, on all days of the week, preferably not on Sundays.
Daytime or evening: I am flexible (of course, within my schedule).
I make it a lively meeting: many examples, room for questions, and (if appropriate) a PowerPoint with illustrations.
You provide the laptop, beamer, and (large) screen/white wall yourself.
During the break, I can bring a small selection of products that are relevant to the topic. A table would be useful for this.
You determine the length. An example for a full evening:
1 hour lecture – 30 min break – 30 min continuation + Q&A session.
If we agree on a date, we can also put the lecture on our website (if you wish). For this, we need:
I currently offer these lectures:
1) Gardening from a Packet
“Where did you get that plant?” “I sowed it myself!”
Sowing seems simple... until it just doesn't work. In this lecture, I'll take you through everything that makes sowing better (and more fun): timing, cold stratification, trends, succession sowing in summer/autumn, techniques, and many practical questions. With examples and materials, it will be a tour through the world of sowing.
2) Forgotten Vegetables
Flavors of the past, varieties you no longer see anywhere, yet you can grow them again. I'll tell you where these vegetables come from, why they disappeared, and how to get them back on your table. With PowerPoint, many stories, and possibly seeds during the break to start immediately.
3) You Ask, We Deliver!
This is the most interactive option: you submit questions in advance (and live questions are welcome, of course). This creates a lecture tailored precisely to your group, from allotment problems to special varieties and cultivation challenges.
4) The Latest News
Every year, dozens to hundreds of new varieties arrive at our doorstep. I'll tell you what's new, why it's special, how to use it, and how to grow it, including everything I hear from growers and feedback from customers along the way.
5) Potato Talk & Tuber Gossip
Potatoes alone... you could fill an entire evening with them: varieties, flavors, textures, cultivation, and problems. Then we'll move on to other tubers and bulbs: sweet potato, Jerusalem artichoke, crosne, oca, mashua, earth-nut pea, and more.
6) Nightshades Without Harm – from seed to flavor explosion
The Solanaceae: beautiful bloomers, delicious fruits, and a few notorious family members. I'll talk about tomatoes, peppers, and other nightshades: origin, breeding, cultivation, and especially... those surprising taste differences.
