Ton Vreeken ❞Last week, I enjoyed dinner outside almost every evening, basking in the sun and thoroughly appreciating my garden. I brought home potatoes for planting, and this year we'll be growing kidney beans for the first time. We absolutely love chili at home, so how cool would it be to make chili with our own kidney beans?
For those active on social media, the concept of "girl dinner" might already be familiar. For those who have never heard of it, we'd be happy to explain: instead of a hot meal (like a traditional meat, potato, and vegetable dish), you opt for a plate of small bites and leftovers.
It consists of all sorts of different 'snacks' that you're craving at that moment. It's mainly about convenience and speed: comfort food.
To elaborate on this theme, we have selected some seeds below that perfectly match your own 'girl dinner' plate. It's called 'girl dinner,' but men are, of course, just as welcome to enjoy it.
✽
206365 – Pepper ‘Sweet snack’The perfect "snack bell pepper"! The fertile plants produce an abundance of approximately 5 cm long, slender fruits in three bright colors: orange, yellow, and red, during the summer. They are delightfully sweet ("sweet as apples"), crisp, almost seedless, and have a long shelf life in the refrigerator.
Delicious to snack on as is, to stuff with cheese, or to dip in a sauce. They also make surprisingly aromatic additions to salads when eaten raw.
✽
208315 – Pepper ‘Kardoula’The deep red Kardoula pepper is a very fast-growing and therefore early-harvesting, mild pepper from Turkey. The fruits are sweet to barely hot, with great depth of flavour and a beautiful, raisin-like sweetness. Like this well-known variety, the Kardoula is often used for stuffing with meat, sauce or cheese. Its shape is perfectly suited for this: small, conical and thick-walled.
Fruit set continues for a long time, especially in the greenhouse or if you bring the plant indoors in autumn. Height: 90–120 cm.
✽
130500 – Cucumber ‘Snacker Kiss’ F1Popular, short cucumbers (13–15 cm x 4 cm, approx. 140 g) with the same top quality as a long, professional variety: bitter-free, seedless (male sterile) and very disease-resistant. The fruits have a fresh, crisp bite and a mild, pleasant taste. Ideal as a healthy snack, but also delicious in salads or as a refreshing addition to various dishes. This versatile variety is suitable for trailing along the ground or for growing upwards along a trellis or netting. This makes the plant suitable for both open ground and cultivation in a greenhouse or large pot.
✽
291179 – Cherry Tomato ‘Cherry Baby’ F1This is a very productive variety that can easily bear up to 350 fruits, weighing approximately 20 grams each, especially in a greenhouse. The plants climb well in the greenhouse, but can also be guided along a sturdy stake outdoors, even in large pots.
It is one of the sweetest cherry tomatoes we know, with a delicious, full flavor — perfect for snacking or using in salads.
✽
228400 – Radish ‘Mixed’A cheerful mix of round radish varieties in red, white, red and white, and… yellow! This colourful mix not only creates a playful effect in the vegetable garden or on the plate, but also offers a lot of variation in taste and appearance.
Radishes harvested in summer have a somewhat spicier, sharper taste than those from spring. Delicious as a crispy snack, in salads or as a fresh addition to a sandwich.

AstersWe've finally been able to get a few asters back in stock. In our industry, it sometimes happens that suppliers discontinue certain products for various reasons. That was also the case with some of these asters, but fortunately, we've found a supplier who can deliver them again.
We are, of course, incredibly happy about this, and we hope you are too! So, feel free to take a look at these asters that are just back in stock.

To protect against animal damageWe currently have nets in stock for animal damage control. We have three different sizes for bird protection. These nets are primarily intended to protect crops, trees, and plants from animal damage. They make it more difficult for birds to access, for example, fruits.
In addition, we also have a net specifically designed for small game. It is a very light and strong, knitted net suitable for protecting cabbage varieties and other robust crops from pigeons and other small game. Cabbage white butterflies and cabbage moths do not easily penetrate it, which also effectively protects the cabbage crops from caterpillars. The nets can be laid loosely over the sturdy crops without disturbing their growth.
✽
StrawberriesYou've had to wait a while, but the first strawberry plants of the year are back in stock! There's plenty of choice, so there's a favorite for everyone. From deliciously sweet strawberries to varieties with a refreshingly tart touch and a surprisingly rich flavor.
There is also a lot of variation in growth habit. For example, there are compact plants that are perfectly suited for pots or containers on the patio or balcony. In addition, there are varieties that form long runners and spread playfully through the garden.
In terms of harvest, you can choose from early, mid-season, and late varieties, but also from everbearing strawberries that produce fruit multiple times during the season. This way, you can enjoy fresh strawberries from your own garden for even longer.
The fruits also vary in size and color: from large to small, from bright red to deep dark red, and even white. Whichever you choose, they always taste best freshly picked!

RhubarbCurrently, we have two different varieties of rhubarb plants: 'Holsteiner Blut' and 'Red Champagne'. Both varieties have an excellent taste and a beautiful red colour.
Rhubarb is versatile and ideal for making compotes, jams, tarts, and desserts. It's also delicious in combination with strawberries, for example, or incorporated into a refreshing sauce. With this rhubarb, you not only get a beautiful but also a tasty addition to your garden for all sorts of dishes.
Last week, I took a week off. I needed some peace of mind, so I wanted to do an NS walking route. I therefore booked a hotel in Maastricht and stayed in that area for four days.
Last Wednesday, I did the walk from Maastricht Central Station via Valkenburg to Schin op Geul. It was 17 kilometers, but truly a beautiful route along hills, forests, and small towns. Every day, I treated myself to dining out and enjoyed the wonderful weather. I started with two books and went home with five. Normally I don't read much, but I plan to pick that up again.
Additionally, I am once again working on making my life a bit healthier. After neatly quitting smoking and drinking from January until mid-February, it unfortunately slowly crept back in afterwards. Now I have stopped smoking and drinking again, and I am on day five. Of course, that's not very long yet, but every day counts.
I also have an idea for my next long vacation. My favorite movie is Mamma Mia! and my favorite country is Greece. I would therefore love to go to the small Greek islands where the film was shot. I don't think I would ever experience anything so beautiful. And I suspect that as soon as I stand on the famous pier, I will spontaneously turn into a dancing queen.
