830235-1
Early strawberry 'Darselect'

AVAILABLE AT LEAST ONCE A YEAR. Darselect is a relatively new, early-ripening French variety, resistant to warm conditions and suitable for forcing. This also makes the variety very suitable for cultivation under tunnels and walk-in covers. They produce large, good-tasting fruits (nicely sweet), even under warm conditions. Occasionally, colossal fruits grow, see photo! The growth of the plants is robust; they also grow well on 'old' plots that have been cultivated extensively with strawberries.
We found the following taste comparison test online: Darselect tastes better than Elsanta. The dark red fruits are larger but fewer in number. Darselect is an early variety. Whether Darselect could match the taste of Korona remained a point of discussion even at the end of the evening. The application of Vinasse as potassium fertilizer in spring would certainly improve the taste considerably. And be sure to let them ripen well on the plant.

Our collection of strawberries consists partly of rare old varieties that are only available in small quantities. Each year in July, a new crop is potted by our grower, which is delivered in September. In April-May, we can replenish some of this assortment.

Names:
Latin: Fragaria x ananassa
Dutch: Early Strawberry
English: Early strawberry 'Darselect'
