Ideal for germinating (not too fine) seeds or covering seedlings.
3.) Provides extra moisture retention without losing aeration.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Perlite retains water in its vesicles, trapping water droplets in small 'chambers' or 'pockets'. Perlite is heated and expanded granite grit. The product therefore has something in common with popcorn: it pops just like corn on a hot plate. This additive is water-repellent in itself but has many pores that can store water and air. Perlite is a wonderful product: its few drawbacks are purely physical. For example, we must take into account that it is extremely light and therefore tends to rise to the surface every time the soil mix is saturated with water. A second problem is that the product used for plant cultivation is WHITE. It may therefore not be considered aesthetically suitable. In the greenhouse (especially in winter), a layer of Perlite on the ground is very beneficial for light reflection.
