Artificial Barn Swallow Nest

Because suitable nesting material (such as loam and clay) is not readily available everywhere, it is becoming increasingly difficult for barn swallows to build a sturdy nest. This artificial nest is made of baked clay, which is screwed to a small plank. Barn swallows are indoor breeders, so you need a large barn or garage with an entrance that is always open from March-April. Some tips:
- hang the nest in a draught-free but hidden place, with the opening facing the entrance.
- Keep 10-15 cm clear above the nest, the spot should not get too hot in summer.
- Outside, it's nice to string a rope or cord, they love to perch on it.
