This pure, reddish-brown clay is fired in the oven at 1200°C, which gives it great advantages:
1) 80% of its volume consists of pores. This guarantees high air circulation even with complete moisture absorption.
2) 70% of the pores have a water absorption capacity, meaning the weight can increase by 100%!
3) The capillary action of a layer of Seramis clay granules is no less than 26 cm! This means the water can "creep up" 26 cm!
Applications:
a) Instead of hydroponics (which must not contain a single grain of soil), plants with their root balls can be planted in a bed of this grit. For houseplants, the pot can simply be (water)tight. The ratio of root ball to clay granules is 1/3 : 2/3. The plants grow fantastically because they do not dry out quickly. A sophisticated moisture meter (see 850610 and 850612) can monitor the moisture content.
b) Your outdoor plants will appreciate drainage and a top layer of Seramis clay granules. The granules can also be mixed with potting soil. Surprisingly, the plants need watering 50% less often!
c) As decorative gravel, these warm terra-colored clay granules are very popular!
Customer response: Hello, I saw that you are also going to stock Seramis. I have many years of experience with it, and it's very positive. I use it in many ways. For regular potted plants, as Seramis describes, and for my orchids in a slightly different way. I use sealed terracotta flower boxes with some pond clay granules (3 cm) at the bottom. Above that, the Seramis granules (5 cm), and then special orchid soil (lots of bark). I water once every 14 days (approx. 2 liters). This collects at the bottom of the flower box and is very slowly absorbed and evaporated by the Seramis. This keeps the climate for my orchids nicely balanced.
