The soil beneath a lawn should not become too compacted. Regular aeration helps keep your lawn healthy. In addition to regular use of your Lawn-Sikes (see 845065), it is wise to aerate annually with the sturdy 4-hole aerator. With a spacing of 9 cm, you remove (by pressing the tubes into the ground) 4 cores of soil measuring 12x1.5 cm. To prevent the holes from silting up, it is advisable to fill them with coarse masonry sand. For very heavy and dense soil, make more holes than for lighter soil. The English manufacturer could not come up with a short name for this sturdy device: Garland Heavy Duty Hollow Tine Lawn Aerator.
