Who doesn't know this famous subtropical plant: its leaves are a flavor enhancer in soups, sauces, meat dishes, marinades, etc. With mild winters, the bay laurel stays outdoors almost the entire period, with some extra protection from acrylic cloth it should survive most winters… but during real winters: into the shed! Fresh bay leaf is slightly more bitter than dried, so it’s an extra flavor enhancer! Symbolically, bay laurel has been used since ancient Greeks as a crown (laurel wreath).
