AVAILABLE AT LEAST ONCE A YEAR. Very successful German variety, harvestable mid-early. The variety was bred by Rudolf von Sengbusch from Hamburg. Senga Sengana appeared on the market in 1956 and is still one of the most cultivated varieties. Due to the slightly delicate fruits (totally unimportant for a hobbyist!), cultivation for fresh consumption has become less important since 1990. They form a medium-sized, bushy plant with many flower clusters with rather small flowers. The strawberries are spherical and not really large. The seeds are deep within the strawberry, making it somewhat resemble a raspberry-strawberry. This gives a pleasant mouthfeel! The fruits are a beautiful red inside and, when picked ripe, have a strong, aromatic scent. This already betrays the good taste, which is also retained during preservation. The slightly lower yield is accepted by many... The Senga Sengana is extremely suitable for the canning industry (Poland!). They are then picked, frozen, and shipped to factories in Western Europe, which make our jar of jam from them. Many strawberries also "disappear" into yogurt and quark. Plant them on raised beds, in plastic, or with straw in between: the fruits do not like to be moist for too long!
Our collection of strawberries consists partly of rare old varieties, which are only available in limited quantities. This means that the waiting time can be long. Annually in July, our grower pots a new crop, which is delivered in August-September. In April-May, we can supplement a part of this assortment. Please note that postage costs may apply for any subsequent deliveries?
