'Weinheimer Nr. 139' comes (as the name suggests) from the Weinheim area (near Heidelberg) and produces large, very good-tasting nuts. The variety is well self-pollinating and the fruits (which often grow in clusters) ripen early, making it an ideal lone tree...
Who doesn't know the walnut... wide trees that create a wonderful shady spot. A useful fact: mosquitoes and flies dislike the vicinity of this tree, so a bench under a walnut tree is a delight on a warm summer evening...! We supply young saplings, which gives the best chance of healthy growth. Plant them so that the root ball is just below the ground (not too deep) and ensure a moderately moist, well-drained spot. Walnuts need to ripen further after harvesting.
