Anyone who has ever eaten a perfectly ripe Nashi pear will never forget its heavenly taste! Aromas of a common pear, the freshness of an apple and sweet notes like a melon... But you can also harvest slightly unripe fruits and then stew them. The trees do not grow too large, but 2 different varieties are needed for fruit set.
The white blossoms are incredibly abundant, as is the subsequent fruit set, but be sure to thin the fruit, otherwise the fruits will remain smaller and less flavorful.
'Hayatama' can be harvested quite early, usually from early August; the fruits are handy and not too large.
