This cherry tree remains small, 2-3 m, and is very suitable for smaller gardens. After the fantastic white-pink bloom, small, red, sweet-sour cherries appear. In Asia, this species is widely cultivated for its good taste (for healthy juices, jam, wine, and preserves) but also as an ornamental plant, bee plant, and/or windbreak. The plant is self-pollinating and very disease and cold resistant.
