Hazelnut 'Cosford' / 'Nocchione'

  • Product number: 822300.1
  • Origin: Europe
  • Latin: Corylus avellana

Both 'Cosford' and 'Nocchione' yield quite large nuts with a very fine taste. We usually only have one of these two similar varieties in stock. Plant at least 2 different varieties for good pollination. Hazelnuts prefer moist, but airy soil.

Hazelnut bushes produce hazelnuts, a well-known and healthy nut, often associated with chocolate! The ripe nuts fall naturally from the bush (in September), so collect them regularly. Hazelnut bushes grow into substantial shrubs, which can be kept open with some pruning. Give the bushes a spacing of 2-3 m from each other. Male and female inflorescences grow on one plant; they are wind-pollinated. Self-pollination is unfavorable, so cross-pollination is necessary.
