By far the best-known Anemone, popular as a cut flower and introduced to our country from France as early as 1850. There are two well-known types: the De Caen type with large, beautifully coloured, single flowers and the St. Brigid type with semi-double flowers and rather narrow petals. They prefer nutritious, humus-rich soil and are sufficiently frost-resistant with some winter cover. Soak the tubers in water overnight before planting.
