A bizarrely shaped flower, because the bulbils sprout quickly. This selection from the wild sand leek produces "flowers" consisting of twisted, fused stems. The stems are sturdy at 100-120 cm tall, making the flowers perfect for a vase. Flowering time: June-July. The bulbs and flowers are edible; compare the taste of the bulb to a mild garlic!
Ornamental onions (or Alliums) are very popular! They bloom from May, a time when the garden chairs can come out!
