Triticum aestivum 'Red Turkey Wheat'

In cooperation with the Mennonite congregation of Ouddorp, we are offering this historical winter wheat! We only ask for the cost price, but we attach the following conditions: you take photos of various stages of the crop, keep a logbook, and inform our contact person Rini Hameeteman (c.hameeteman@gmail.com) about all your findings. You must also sow at least 1 kg and process this unique wheat up to and including the flour.

The story in brief (more extensive in the PDF attachment):
Menno Simons was born in Witmarsum (Friesland) in 1496 and was the founder of the Dutch Mennonite Church. This denomination was brutally persecuted, and the believers spread throughout Poland, Ukraine, and the surrounding areas. After the communist revolution, many fled to America; some Ukrainian Mennonites took this 'Red Turkey Wheat' with them. In Witmarsum, a group of people learned that this wheat had been revived since 1992, and from 2019, it returned to Menno's birthplace. The Mennonite congregation in Ouddorp celebrated its 400th anniversary in 2022 and also embraced this wheat, thus completing the circle. Now, for Ukraine…
