Subtle in bloom and beautiful in foliage! The 3-part leaf starts purplish-green and eventually turns blue-green with beautiful silvery-grey veins around the nerves. The flowering follows on long, slender, leafless stems with a few wonderfully beautiful, orange butterfly flowers. The plant grows in the tropics and subtropics and likes a semi-shaded spot with plenty of moisture but good drainage. In this natural environment, the plant is known as fodder and for medicinal applications. The plant overwinters just frost-free and forms a strong underground root system.
