An early bloomer with special allure: I had known the white and dark violet-flowered Honesty for years, but this light blue-violet one is truly a surprise! The flowers seem to glow in the twilight, and in the sun, they sparkle towards summer! Grow them separately from other colours to preserve this light shade. Of course, after flowering, the well-known coin-shaped seed pods follow: after drying, the outer membranes can be carefully removed, revealing the silver-coloured septum.
We received seeds from a garden enthusiast: Annie Pohlmann of De Stadstuin (Hengelo). It turns out the seeds were brought from Greece (Kastoria) by Jan Willem Overmars of De Warande (Laag Keppel). They also grow abundantly on Corfu and are even called "Corfu blue" there when they bloom everywhere in spring! Seeds travel long distances…
