Echium pininana x Wildpretii 'Pink Fountain'

Product number: 586510
Origin: Mediterranean region
Latin: Echium pininana x wildpretii

A successful cross between the blue pininana and the cherry rose wildpretii resulted in this rare pink variant: one of the most wondrous plants! In its first or second year, the plant forms a rosette of coarse leaves on a thickening woody stem, somewhat like a palm. The following spring (protect from severe frost), the plant will grow and grow and grow from this centre... (stems over 4m are known to us!) Thousands of pink flowers cover the stem, bees happy, you proud, passers-by amazed!

Sowing method: Sow year-round in a seed tray, first give warmth for 2-4 weeks (18-22°C), then give a cold period in e.g. the refrigerator (+4°C) for 4-6 weeks, then slowly warm up to room temperature again, after which germination will follow. Sowing directly in the garden is also possible; in that case, simply let it overwinter, and germination will occur in spring.
