Mexican marigold

  • Product number: 555870
  • Origin: Mexico, Central America
  • Latin: Tagetes lucida, also known as T. anisata

An African marigold with a wonderfully fresh scent and taste – that's unique! The aniseed scent that the leaves of this plant exude is truly irresistible! The single flowers (late-blooming) are warm yellow, height 40-50cm. A few leaves in a salad have a special flavour effect, but beware, not everyone can tolerate uncooked Tagetes lucida. Native Americans are aware of its hallucinogenic effect (by eating raw or smoking), which disappears when cooked or heated for tea.
