Latin: *Nicotiana tabacum*

Prilep is actually a group of varieties that came to Macedonia from Bulgaria and underwent significant improvements there. They have somewhat smaller leaves, compact growth, and a beloved and fine aroma, medium-bodied, and a nice addition to a blend for cigarette and pipe tobacco.
A "blend" (mixture) is composed of several varieties in varying concentrations to obtain an interesting aroma.

Tobacco plants are diligent bloomers, in sun or shade, dry weather or rain!

Sowing method: February-April indoors at 20-25°C or outdoors in May (in a warm, shady spot). Always pre-sow in a seed tray. Sowing medium cocopeat with silver sand, sieve the top layer extra finely (kitchen sieve). Spread the seeds over the seedbed, press lightly and mist to keep moist: it's a light germinator! Transplant in potting soil in time to prevent growth stagnation. The plants can go outside in May, as soon as the weather becomes consistently warmer.
