Habano 2000 is derived from a cross between the Corojo variety and a non-commercial variety of Cuban dark tobacco: Habano 2.1.1, from which its resistance to grey mold is derived.
Cultivated in direct sunlight, the plants reach an average height of 180 cm with 14-16 leaves per plant. In very rich soils, they can develop up to 18 leaves per plant. Sun-grown plants are often used for a good blend of cigars or cigarettes. Habano 2000 is also cultivated under shade cloth and then makes an excellent wrapper (wrapper leaf for cigars).
Tobacco plants are diligent bloomers, in sun or shade, dry weather or rain!
